Wait For It…

Posted in Anime, Bailout, Site News at 7:34 am

Off to the con today; weekend updates will conti– wait. I don’t do weekend updates anymore. Hrm.

Oh well. Have some Red Bull. You know I will… well, probably not, as there’s usually enough Bawls to go around at Tekko. (And I don’t want to hear any remarks from the peanut gallery about “Bawls at an anime con”.) The full Tekko report will be up… eventually.

It’s Craptastic

Re-installing World of Warcraft sucks bad enough, but it’s even worse when suddenly your install discs refuse to be read, and you’re left downloading the client. That’s a great thing in theory, except Comcast thinks I’m haxing teh megahutz and throttles my bandwidth randomly.

No writing has gotten done since Monday lunchtime, and no gaming beyond very minimal Audiosurfing has been done either. Both are situations I want to rectify tonight…. but I’ll probably only be dealing with the latter as I want to save up writing inspiration for the con report.

Chaos Continued

Posted in Anime, Gaming, Site News at 4:02 pm

It’s a con week, so naturally all hell has to break loose. I just hope that by the time things get settled Thursday evening I’m not going to be hyper-depressed. In any event, this entry aside, we’re likely to have some bleed-over of the anime and game content on this side of the blog this week. The LJ should be business as usual, but no promises.

I’m trying to muster up the motivation to want to play through more of Ratchet and Clank, but unfortunately my remarks over its genericity (that’s not even a word– but genericness is?) have rung true, and so at the fourth planet I’m succumbing to the crippling apathy that threatened my enjoyment so far. I’ll say this, though: getting new weapons did help to make the game a lot more enjoyable, but the fact that it’s exactly like any other platformer that’s been endemic to the PS2 since launch did not help it at all. So, it’s going back to the movie store today, a day early.

As for anime, I’ve been re-watching The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and Ouran Host Club, for no particular reason. There’s still no schedule for Tekkoshocon, so I’ve no idea what I’m likely to see there (and I probably won’t find out until Thursday night) but I expect to do a bit of watching this year. Though I suppose it couldn’t hurt to watch a little more Kiddy Grade in the meantime.

Which reminds me– I need to update the novel word count with what I managed to eke out during lunch. Then I need to go return the movies, get dinner, think about doing the laundry, etc. etc JOHN R BUSY. Catch you all tomorrow.

Gin And Juice

Posted in Gaming, Site News, Writing at 12:11 pm

Laid back.

I’m feeling very, very relaxed now. The chaos of the 1st, while it produced a lot of crushed hopes with regards to the video game industry, helped to flush out a huge amount of stress that had been building up. It seems like March is always a very tense time for me, but unlike last year, I’m still employed on the third of April, so there is that.

Anyway, I’ll save the analysis of the gaming news and rumors for the LJ tomorrow– there are a couple bits which came to light on Tuesday of suspicious veracity, yet not unwarranted interest– and just say that the writing is progressing nicely on Blueberries. I hit 10K words Monday night, and managed not to fiddle with the tracking spreadsheet too much. (Tuesday and Wednesday were filled with other chaos– Tuesday was obvious, but last night I had some minor panic with my wireless network.) Progress is being made, which is the important thing to note.

Oh, and I managed to get a Playstation 3 for (close to) half price. Craigslist is love. I’m forbidding myself from installing it tonight, however, until after I’ve written a couple thousand words.

Catch you all tomorrow.

Itsuki’s crazy. If someone wanted to crack ICA’s mail system, they’d probably find some juicier conversations closer to D.C. than ours.

Anyway, Tomoyo and Naoko had a little run in with… oh, right, we never gave her a code-name. We’ll call her Chiharu. Anyway, the girls got antagonized a little over the whole situation with the Big Dance. I’m starting to reconsider her involvement in the program; Chiharu’s a nice girl and all, but I think we may have got to her too late. On the plus side, at least Syaoran and Takashi were there to back the girls up. Quite a tight little family we’ve gathered here, no? To think even a year ago, these kids couldn’t stand to be in the same room with each other…

There’s definitely something going on with Yuki. She seems distracted. I think maybe we ought to stop her little experiments…. Ryoko– I mean Sakura– I mean… Good God, how do we keep all these code-names straight? Why can’t I just call her Seven? Ah, it’s pointless now anyway. The old men have found out about her little game. They’re likely going to take us all out.

Heh. Seven in one bl

You made that hint far, far too easy, Yuki. It’s not ready yet– yes, I had to call Kyon to find out just what the hell it’s about– but I think you and Haruhi are right in that he’s going to need some help with it. I don’t know how exactly we’re going to get him to recruit people, but I can think of a few who might be worth approaching.

Something happened with Naoko and Tomoyo today. Takashi and Syaoran seemed unaffected, but the girls were quite broken up about it. Ask Kyon for the details; they can’t be trusted to this message. I suspect this encryption scheme has been compromised, anyway.

Oh, you’d love for me to tell you about his project, wouldn’t you? Well, for the crack at my fun, I won’t. But here’s a hint: it’s something that would INTEREST ONLY HIM.

I don’t think I’m going too far… after all, all this proves is that he’s still got it. I’d be more worried if he didn’t respond to getting his ass kicked once in a while.

[X-YUKI.N don't you wonder how far i have taken this game ? perhaps the answers are not within after all .]

Haruhi mentioned something about a new project Kyon is working on… I’ve heard nothing about this. Mind filling me in?

And stop teasing Kyon. If you push him too far, it’ll end badly for all of us.

Kyon is starting to get uppity. I think perhaps a little lesson in humility is in order for him.

In the meantime, please continue your observations. I heard there was a little bit of trouble with Takashi and Mizuki? I certainly hope there’s no long-term effects. We should try to keep everything on track and on target for the May 16th date.

Incidentally, have you had a look at Kyon’s new project? The pitch he sent to me sounded good, but I don’t think he could do it alone; Yuki agrees with me.

Sounds like a challenge, girl.
