GAME CLEARED: Space Invaders Extreme (DS)
At 9:16a, I completed Stage 5 of Space Invaders Extreme on the Nintendo DS. This is the twenty-eighth game cleared in 2008. The next game that is queued for completion is The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii), followed by Mega Man 9 (Wii) and Bionic Commando: ReArmed (360). Game cleared over 16 days.

Um, a question.
Clearing level 5 finishes the game? Wasn’t the point of Space Invaders to be endless until you die, where you aim for as high a score as you can get?
Or is stage 5 not a literal end but a good “I’ve done this game” stopping point to move on?

SIE is divided into stages, each with a boss. The best explanation I can come up with is, do you remember how in Pac-Man Arrangement (on the Namco Museum discs) the mazes were distinct and disparate levels? That’s the same principle here. It’s a re-imagining of how Space Invaders would be done given modern design ideas.
Oddly enough, there isn’t an ‘endless’ mode on the card.

That’s fine I suppose, but for the fact that they don’t let you just keep playing (at least a legacy mode) that lets you just try to rack up points.
Oh well. This is why things like the Taito Collection exist, I suppose.
