GAME CLEARED: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Justice For All (DS)
At 7:26p, I completed the final case of Phoenix Wright: Justice For All on the Nintendo DS. This is the twelfth game cleared in 2008. The next game that is queued for completion is Beyond Good and Evil (PS2), followed by Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation (GBA) and The World Ends With You (DS).
Due to the visual-novel nature of the Phoenix Wright games, from this point onward they will no longer count for or against my Games Complete or Backlog totals.

This isn’t like Planetarian - it’s not literally just “read a novel with pictures.” There is effort you do involved. :) I’d say it’s kosher to count it.
Just don’t count Planetarian that way. (It uses the kind of engine Kanon, Air, and Clannad use - actually, it literally uses the engine that Clannad and the rereleases of Kanon and Air use… but there are no actual “choices” and the savegame metaphor is renamed “bookmark.” It’s literally just designed to be a novel with illustrations you read through in this format - it’s a good story that decided to use the engine as its medium).

How can a game involving puzzle solving be termed a visual novel? Of course the main attraction of the games is the script, but you can say the same of many old LucasArts adventure games.
