Sorry, folks, I got super-busy last night and didn’t have time to write up a post for this morning. And I’m deathly afraid of running later than I already am, so this will have to do– I’ll hope to have something with a bit more to it tomorrow, but we’ll see.
Believe me, I’m getting sick of these ‘no time’ entries too.

Just throwing this out there for anyone else with a 360, but has anyone else run into some nasty issues with the Dashboard since the update yesterday? I was messing around with some of the new features and the machine froze totally. I’m willing to attribute it to congestion on the network if I weren’t looking at my own friends list at the time. The problems seem to have cleared up, and I picked up Indigo Prophecy (downloading now), but we’ll see if they come back tonight… they always come back. More information as it develops.

Ladies and gentlemen, teh rawqk is ON. Drums arrived at the UPS hub (halfway to Uniontown) at 6:30, and I got them home and played a bit. I now realize three things:
One, I suck at the drums.
Two, no, really, I suck hardcore at the drums.
Three, they were totally worth it.
Those two of you local to me should be on the lookout for an e-mail soon inviting you to join in on the festivities. Or I’ll just catch you at GASP this Saturday and speak at length about how metal it would be were we to rock the f$%! out. And if that’s not enough of an incentive, there will be cake.
I’ll stop using the cake joke just as soon as it stops making me smile to think about it.
Anyway. That’s going to be my time for a few weeks now. Catch you all later.

I did no writing yesterday. Barely did any real gaming, either. I take that back– played a little bit more of Twilight Princess, which led me to believe that I really need to start reading instruction manuals. ANYWAY.
There’s been a little bit of news about how Russia-based SUP has acquired the LiveJournal service from its previous owners, SixApart. Ordinarily this would be just a moment of “lol, Russian capitalism” but for the fact that LiveJournal was actually part of the big New Year’s Project for THIS site. Yeah. That’s actually going to have to be postponed until I can figure out if it is indeed safe to proceed– after all, LiveJournal would never interfere with the content of its users’ journals, heaven forfend. I’ll keep my eye on this and give you all an update eventually. Realistically this doesn’t change much, which defeats the purpose of the New Year’s Project, but ah well.
Catch you folks tomorrow.

Well, that was certainly a trip and a half. I still am a little amazed that even arriving at 5am was not enough to get me to be first in line at the Best Buy. At any rate, I certainly wasn’t last in line. And that, my friends, is all that matters. Soon, and very soon, my parents shall know for themselves the glory that is the Blue Glow of Love. Yes. I got it.
So. Having actually waited in line for a console now, I can honestly say that it’s something I have to prepare for much more the next time I have to do it. Because let’s face it, folks. This year, and last year, and the year before that has proven one thing. People are willing to sit in lines in the cold for stuff. Whatever comes up next– and it’s a few years off, thankfully– is going to see me camping out, possibly quite literally.
Anyway, I’m hyper-tired now, so I’m going to probably just do a little writing this afternoon– at home; you’ll have to give me a damn good reason to leave the house right now. Like, fire. Or cake. I might also do some more gaming; we’ll see. Right now, I just need some Coke and chocolate. Fortunately, I have both, so… yeah.

I had a minor amount of life Drama last night, and was all set to write about that. Suddenly, though, I don’t really feel like it. Bad news has a way of doing that to me. I learned just now that the legendary daredevil, Evel Knievel, has died.
As much as I want to find some light remark about this, I can’t. I know death is something we all must face, but to be brutally honest this man faced it far more times than any of us could dare to even conceive of. Mostly for no reason other than to put on a show. And what a show it was. He retired in 1980, so I never got to see him… but I always admired him. When I was very young, I wanted to be a stuntman for a short period of time; I think pretty much every young boy does at some point. Mr. Knievel was the reason why. We tend to live for adrenaline, live for thrills, and even if we never are in danger ourselves, watching someone tempt fate time and time again and get back up every single time… that’s not just courage, that’s not just fearlessness. That’s truly worthy of admiration. It’s an example to everyone: never, never, never never give up. Quit only when you’re good and ready to, and even then don’t quit until you’re satisfied.
Mr. Knievel was 69. He died peacefully. Which is the way it should be.
I’ve got some writing to do, and some Drama to prepare for tomorrow morning, so I’ll catch you folks later.
