teh rawqk
Ladies and gentlemen, teh rawqk is ON. Drums arrived at the UPS hub (halfway to Uniontown) at 6:30, and I got them home and played a bit. I now realize three things:
One, I suck at the drums.
Two, no, really, I suck hardcore at the drums.
Three, they were totally worth it.
Those two of you local to me should be on the lookout for an e-mail soon inviting you to join in on the festivities. Or I’ll just catch you at GASP this Saturday and speak at length about how metal it would be were we to rock the f$%! out. And if that’s not enough of an incentive, there will be cake.
I’ll stop using the cake joke just as soon as it stops making me smile to think about it.
Anyway. That’s going to be my time for a few weeks now. Catch you all later.

Is the cake joke a reference to the Mario 64 inspired “the cake is a lie” or to something else?

Heh. Google the phrase “the cake is a lie”, and all answers will be revealed, Ismail. ^_^
And John, the cake references will take awhile to get old. If nothing else, it always makes me giggle. ;)

“The cake is a lie” wasn’t inspired by SM64. The VG Cats joke was inspired by something else.

I’m finding “the cake is a lie” jokes to be getting old already. Having said that I still like to make them myself. A t-shirt saying something about cake would be nice… (”Come back to mine. There will be cake…” perhaps, with a li’l picture of GLaDOS)

Kat: Well, I was aware of “the cake is a lie” but had it misattributed.
But uh, why does the joke seem older to me than Portal is?

That’s because “The _____ is a lie” is a joke older than Portal. It’s just that the variant from Portal, involving cake, is a popular joke at the moment.
