Living Familial Loci
All right, here is the proverbial deal. I’m heading off to Boston for the next few days, to visit my cousin who not-coincidentally is getting married. This is apparently a big year for weddings, as I am aware of at least four others that Rick was invited to and a second one to which I also received an exhortation to attend. I am deeply saddened, however, to not be able to attend that one, as it is also scheduled for this coming weekend, and my gamble of being able to affordably clone myself prior to today was, quite unsurprisingly, not a sound plan. (I think that even if the technology were to become available overnight, I still wouldn’t have enough lead-time to get myself bio-xeroxed and appropriately located. There is also the very slim chance that the clone would become unstable, mutate freakishly, and devour guests like those little diamond-hard pastel almond candies that invariably are served at weddings, but I was willing to take that risk because a) the odds were extremely against it and b) I wouldn’t be there to get eaten, even though technically I kind of would if it weren’t me doing the devouring.) Anyway, to Ismail and Maryum, I wish you the best and I wish I could be there to share in that.
In any event, my absence may affect the update schedule. I’m going to make every effort to update this page at least once a day between now and Monday; obviously, Tuesday is when I return and the normal schedule should resume, but I made a promise at the beginning of the year and I am going to stick to it. I got this far, even counting a full twenty-four-hour period where I had all of my computers completely shut down; I’m not gonna slip now. I’ll catch you folks tomorrow… hopefully.
