In Absentia

Taking a short trip today. Not much to report. I’m feeling a little better; inspiration has again struck me.

Which reminds me, I need aspirin, too.

Underdubbed

As per this week’s general idiom: nothing of interest to report. I’ve picked up a few projects I wanted to resume lately, but nothing new and nothing to show off. Soon, folks.

Nothing new to report today either; save for the clear notice below. Trust me, there will be public news soon, but not right now.

I was going to write about how I seem to be completing a lot of games lately, but for some reason I can’t find a good way to say it aside from what I just typed right now. So, yeah. Catch you cats tomorrow night.

GAME CLEARED: Super Paper Mario (Wii)

Posted in Game Cleared 2007, Gaming at 1:50 pm

At 1:48pm, I defeated (spoiler, hover over to read), the final boss of Super Paper Mario on the Wii. This is the eighth game cleared in 2007. The next game that is closest to completion is Super Robot Taisen (GBA), followed by Trauma Center: Second Opinion (Wii) and Final Fantasy III (DS).

Re: Dumb Stuff

CUT THAT $#$@ OUT. Until you do I will be forced to lock myself in my apartment and watch hockey until the Sabres or Penguins win or I no longer care.

Tekko Notes, Day Three

Posted in Anime, Gaming, Site News at 9:11 am

Day Three was a pretty subdued affair, actually. I hit the Dealer’s room one last time to toss some pocket change at some figurines, then went to try out for the last game show, Anime Joker’s Wild. I got on, but didn’t win; my role was merely the second player to be stomped in her domination of the game. Still, I have to admit I was less nervous than last year’s Day Three game. I also got to chat with Greggo a little bit, and when the full report is up, I’ll make sure to relay what I found.

Today is going to be tricky, folks, but to be honest I’m not worried. I’ll get throught his and by this time next week… well, I’ll likely be busy, but by this time next week, all will once again be well.

Unrelated: I so want to try to make some kind of subtle system to identify to people at cons that I has a DS and I has a desire to challenge without actually wearing some dorky sign. I don’t know what form it will take, probably just a little pin or something, but it stems from my frustration at wanting to challenge someone to a Chocobo Tales card battle but not finidng anyone willing to do so. (The fact that the game was just out a week ago may have some small bit to do with it, but I’ve no real proof, huh? The more likely reason could be that I was just one of 2500 attendees, actually.) In any event, here’s hoping that at Otakon there will be a decent-sized DS Pit.

Tekko Notes, Day Two

Posted in Anime at 6:51 am

It should probably be noted right about now that I didn’t do last night what I set out to do. That is, see Nescaflowne and Tekko AMV Hell, as Nescetc. started at 1:30a and I was barely conscious and functioning at 11:00p, even after chugging a Bawls. So, not quite as much stuff this time. The rundown, then:

Much less DS gaming today. Basically it was whenever I saw someone with a DS, I would see what they were playing. This can only mean one thing; I must volunteer next year, if only to help out with coordinating the handheld matches.
I caught the last part of Munto, which was… well, kind of bleh even if the art style was interesting; the first part of Negima which was also kind of meh but more interesting for being from Ken Akamatsu; and some of Moon Phase, which was very interesting up until the opening theme broke my brain and would not leave.
The manga library was a nice place to sit down and relax; I skimmed through CLAMP’s “Suki” and read through the first volume of Fruits Basket. I also did pimping for Inconsequential, which means that I have to do up a page for that.
Greggo’s game shows remain at the very least technically impressive, and at best, awe-inspiring. I even managed to get on Anime Press Your Luck during the audience participation phase, and lost. But it was a good lost. Mental note: W-H-A-M-Y (this will make sense during the report… well, no, it won’t, but it’s there to remind me of the gag).
My final photo count for the last two days is 82. I’ll be shooting more today, on a truncated timetable (I’m not going to get there until 9:30 or 10, and I’m not going to stay past about 2), but for now, I’ve got what I’ve shot on this Flickr set.

Another parting thought. Actually, more of a parting guideline than a thought. From this day forth, I hereby decree that convention events earlier than 11:00a are no longer viable targets for me to visit, for the sake of my sanity and health; especially if, when I went to sleep the night before, the clock only had three digits on it.

Tekko Notes, Day One

Posted in Anime at 6:51 am

Hey. Not really enough photos just yet to go through the trouble of uploading; Friday is usually a slow day anyway. Usually. Anyway, there are a few things I’d like to mention right off the bat in brief, so as not to spoil the con report.

First, the DS is just plain badass for conventions; the PSP less so, but still a recommended piece of gamer’s equipment.
I am digging Ouran Host Club for no readily apparent reason, except maybe the Momiji-clone; I have to do some digging and find the connection to Fruits Basket because otherwise it’s going to drive me crazy.
And finally, in a stroke of luck (and insanity, false bravado, and reckless self-endangerment on my part) I got the chance to see all of El-Hazard in one run. (The first OVA series; there’s still, what, another OVA and maybe two TV series?)

I leave you with this parting thought. While I remain acutely aware of my faults in dealing with other people, I at least am not to this point yet, nor do I really see myself going in that direction. Catch you folks tomorrow.
