Why I Like The Browns
OK, kind of related to the Volkswagen commercials from a few posts ago. DirecTV has a campaign where they take familiar or famous settings– such as a scene from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, to cite one tame example– and cut in a pitch for the satellite service.
I don’t know about you, but Bill Cowher, head coach of the Steelers, scares the hell out of me. So having him encourage folks to consider the NFL Sunday Ticket is far more than a little counterproductive. On the plus side, I’m buying a lot more toilet paper these days.

Aww… And here I thought the title would indicate that you adored their rabidly loyal fans despite the fact that the Browns can’t win any games. ;)

Oh, trust me, I am one of those rabidly loyal fans. But really, when it comes down to a choice between Bill Cowher, who looks like he’s going to eat somebody, and Romeo Crennel, who looks like he already has, I’m gonna have to go with Crennel just because I’m pretty sure he’s not hungry.

I keep hoping that one day, the Browns will come back, start winning again, and say “Hey guys! Sorry if you missed us!”, but then I realize I’ve been kind of hoping that for 20 years or so, and while it may happen sometime, I’m losing hope on it being in my lifetime. ;)
